GUIDELINES: Non-Impediment Of Marriage
PLEASE NOTE:
A Certificate of Non-Impediment to Marriage is issued to citizens/nationals residing in foreign countries, who are desirous of getting married and require this Certificate as evidence that there is no obstacle/objection to marry.
The Applicant must affix his/her signature at the bottom of the Declaration Form. Do not fill in any information on the last two lines. This is for the Embassy to complete.
The Applicant must affix his/her signature and date at the bottom of Page 2 of the Questionnaire.
Certified English translations of all documents in foreign languages are required.
All Original documents will be returned to the Applicant.
DOCUMENTATION:
- Completed PERSONAL INFORMATION FORM
- Completed CERTIFICATE OF NON-IMPEDIMENT DECLARATION
- Completed CERTIFICATE OF NON-IMPEDIMENT TO MARRIAGE QUESTIONNAIRE
- Three (3) Passport-sized Photographs
- Original Certificate of Birth
- Original Certificate of Marriage, Divorce Decree, Deed Poll or any relevant document (If there was a change of name other than what is stated on the Certificate of Birth)
- A coloured copy of the Bio-data Page of Current Passport
FEES:
Application for Non-Impediment to Marriage: €20
Return Postage via Registered Mail: €15
PAYMENT DETAILS
The Embassy would not be in a position to process an Application if the respective fees are not received. The fees can either be enclosed in the envelope with the documents to be posted to the Embassy or transferred into the Embassy’s Bank Account.
IN THE CASE OF A BANK TRANSFER, KINDLY CONTACT THE EMBASSY FOR THE BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS.
PLEASE TRANSFER THE EXACT FEE INTO THE ACCOUNTS. THE EMBASSY WOULD NOT BE IN A POSITION TO REFUND ANY EXCESS PAYMENT.
PROCESS:
An Application for a Certificate of Non-Impediment to Marriage can be submitted to the Embassy either in person or through the post. The Embassy will send the Application to be processed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the General Register Office (GRO) in Georgetown, Guyana, via courier. This process can take approximately three (3) months.
Once received, the Embassy will dispatch to the Applicant, the Certificate via Registered Mail to the return address stated on the self-addressed envelope.
The Applicant is required to confirm receipt of the Certificate and other documents by signing and returning to the Embassy the “Receipt of Documents Slip” via email address (contact@guyanamissiongeneva.ch)
