The Permanent Mission of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, in its capacity as Coordination of the countries of the Americas (WHO/GRUA), led by Charge d’ Affaires a.i. Kerrlene Wills convened a GRUA Meeting with the support of the delegation of the United States of America. The purpose of the meeting was to update AMRO on the critical issues of interest to the Member States.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Wills welcomed participants to the meeting and thanked the United States delegation for hosting the first in-person meeting post-pandemic. She also underscored Guyana’s commitment as GRUA Coordinator to continue to bring the region together to discuss key issues and topics in health. She also extended congratulations to Brazil and Ambassador Nunes on their nomination as an Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB) bureau member. Following her opening remarks, the Chair introduced the United States Assistant Secretary for Global Affairs (OGA), Ms Loyce Pace, for her brief comments.
Assistant Secretary-General Pace also welcomed participants to the meeting and expressed her appreciation for joining the GRUA Member States at this meeting to discuss topical issues in health.
