Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton visits the Geneva Mission: Commends Chargé d’Affaires Kerrlene Wills and Second Secretary Colin Luckie for Their Hardwork and Dedication

During his participation of the 110th session of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, the Minister of Labour, Hon. Joseph Hamilton met and interacted with Ms. Kerrlene Wills Chargé d’Affaires a.i, and Mr. Colin Luckie, Secondary Secretary, both on Permanent Mission of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to The United Nations Office and other International Organisations at Geneva.

Ms. Wills and Mr. Luckie are from regions 3 and 10, respectively, and were applauded by the minister for their diligent contribution during their post. Further, the minister hinted that he is proud of the professional representation Ms. Wills and Mr. Luckie have shown and was reassured that Guyana is more visible on the world map.

Guyana has served on various other bodies of the United Nations, including the Council on Namibia, the Commission on Sustainable Development (1996 to 2002), the Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund 1986-89 and 1999-2001.

The country sits on a variety of UN bodies, among them: the Palestinian Rights Committee, the Committee on Information; the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme, and the United Nations Population Fund for the period 2005-2007; the Commission on Population and Development (2003-2009), and the Committee on the United Nations Population Award (2004-2006).

Nine distinguished Guyanese have to date served as Permanent Representatives to the United Nations. Ms. Wills will be chairing the Committee of Subsidies and Countervailing Measures at the World Trade Organization for 2022 – 2023.
