Passport

Passport Application

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. A Machine Readable Passport (MRP) is valid for five (5) years and is not renewable. An Applicant is encouraged to apply for a new Passport before the current one expires (it should have at least six (6) months of remaining validity).
  2. Ensure that you carefully read the Passport Application Form before completing it.
  3. Certified English translations of all documents in foreign languages are required.
  4. All original documents will be returned to the Applicant.
  5. It is very important that in completing the Passport Application Form, the Applicant signs in the rectangular box located in the upper right hand corner of Page 2 (do not exceed or touch the borders). Also, page 3 (Section 6) must be signed. Both signatures must be consistent.
  6. Reference/Recommender (Section 7 of Application Form): Any person of professional status, such as a Justice of Peace, Member of Parliament, Minister of Religion, Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher, Bank Officer, Police Officer, etc. in your country of residence. The Recommender must affix his/her Official Stamp at the appropriate place on the Application Form. The Embassy can also offer this service at a fee (see details below).

DOCUMENTATION:

  • Completed Passport Application Form 
  • Three (3) recent passport-sized photographs
  • Original Certificate of Birth/Naturalization/Registration/Registration of Overseas Birth/Adoption
  • A coloured copy of the Bio-data Page of the current Republic of Guyana Passport
  • The expired Republic of Guyana Passport (The Embassy will cancel this Passport and return to the Applicant)
  • Original Certificate of Marriage (if the applicant is a female and is married, divorced or widowed and there was a change of name)
  • Original Deed Poll/Declaration/Decree Absolute Certificate (If there has been a change of name other than through Marriage)

For Lost/Damaged/Stolen Passports:

  • The relevant documents stated above
  • A Sworn Affidavit signed before a Justice of the Peace, Notary Public Commissioner of Oaths and Affidavit  stating the circumstances causing the Passport to be lost/stolen/damaged. This can also be done at the Embassy.
  • Police Report (signed, stamped and certified by the issuing Authority)

FEES:

  • New Passport: CHF 70
  • Replacement of a Lost/Stolen/Damaged Passport: CHF 90

The Embassy would not be in a position to process a Passport Application if the respective fees are not received. A pre-paid self-addressed return envelope must be provided for documents to be returned by post

PROCESS:

A Passport Application can be submitted to the Embassy either in person or through the post.

The Embassy will send the Application to be processed by the Central Immigration and Passport Office in Georgetown, Guyana via courier. This process can take approximately three (3) months.

Once received, the Embassy will dispatch to the Applicant, the new Republic of Guyana Passport, via Registered Mail to the return address stated on the Application Form. The Applicant is required to confirm receipt of the Passport and other documents by signing and returning to the Embassy the “Receipt of Documents Slip” via email address (consular@guyanamissiongeneva.ch).
